A Skylark in Blue Yonder
Jon Brownridge

This exciting new book by Jon Brownridge is now available both in the UK and internationally. A Skylark in Blue Yonder tells of the incredible, hilarious, and sometimes poignant experiences of the author as a hot air balloon pilot and the amazing, colourful characters he met along the way.

Jon Brownridge, a school principal in Toronto, took up ballooning after a pleasure flight across the Yorkshire Dales. His escapades as he learned to fly and his experiences after he qualified as a hot-air balloon pilot make for a sometimes funny, sometimes alarming, and ultimately a very moving tale.
He learns from his first instructor never to leave a passenger in the basket on her own and to stay away from cows.  However, after he accidently burns his trainer's derriere he has to find another. He finds a super cool Englishman to train him and comes on in leaps and bounds, even passing the wrong aviation exam after a mix-up at the test center.

Once a pilot, Jon buys his own balloon and then his learning curve really takes off. He advertises romantic flights for two and witnesses marriage proposals, consoles jilted suitors, and helps to scatter ashes, sometimes with disastrous results. His usual gentle adventures will make you smile, but his final tale might bring a tear to your eye.

Jon Brownridge writes with a light, easy style and his dry sense of humor makes his book, A Skylark in Blue Yonder, a delightful, light page-turner that will leave you wishing for more.
